Offered here is an exceptional 2009 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR, the legendary “King of the Road,” representing the ultimate expression of modern Shelby performance. This example is #38 of only 712 produced, verified by two serialized Shelby plaques—one on the dashboard and a second mounted on the core support under the hood—and has been preserved in outstanding condition with just 721 original miles.
Finished in highly desirable Vista Blue Metallic with Silver over-the-top and side stripes, this car is 1 of only 88 GT500KRs produced in this color for 2009, making it the lowest-production color option of the model year. Exterior details include Shelby badging, fog lights, a rear spoiler, polished exhaust outlets, and exclusive carbon-fiber components, including the vented hood with satin-chrome hood pins, front splitter, and mirror caps. The car rides on 18-inch polished Alcoa wheels fitted with the original factory Goodyear Track/Street tires installed during the Shelby conversion.
Power comes from the factory-rated supercharged 5.4-liter DOHC V8, producing 540 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. The GT500KR package includes the Ford Racing Power Upgrade, featuring a cold-air intake and revised H-pipe exhaust system. Handling is enhanced by the SVT-tuned suspension, which incorporates upgraded springs, struts, shocks, sway bars, and a strut tower brace. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with Brembo front calipers, and the car will also be sold with a Ford Racing Front Brake Duct Cooling Kit, still new in its original box.
Inside, the cabin features Dark Charcoal leather sport bucket seats with embossed Shelby Cobra logos, “GT500KR” and Shelby signature embroidery, and a serialized dashboard plaque identifying this car as the 38th GT500KR produced. Equipment includes a Shaker 500 sound system, Ford Racing short-throw shifter, ambient lighting, cruise control, and air conditioning. The front-seat airbag inflators were replaced in February 2025 as part of a factory recall specific to this model year.
Originally delivered to Village Ford of Dearborn, Michigan, this Shelby was upgraded by Shelby Automobiles in Las Vegas, Nevada, where the total Shelby conversion package amounted to $35,665, bringing the car’s total original sticker price to $80,560. Purchased in 2023 from its original owner, the car has been carefully maintained, with recent service including intake and combustion chamber cleaning, fuel injector and throttle body service, and replacement of the fuel filter and spark plugs.
Included in the sale are both Ford and Shelby window stickers, the Shelby American Vehicle Authenticity Certificate, manufacturer’s literature, a service binder, a recent invoice, spare parts, two keys, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Maine title.
With ultra-low mileage, rare color specification, factory-original tires, extensive documentation, and unmatched Shelby provenance, this 2009 Shelby GT500KR stands as a premier opportunity to acquire one of the most collectible modern Shelbys ever produced.

Aloha,
I am in Hawaii so at somewhat of a disadvantage as I will not be able to physically see the car. The pictures look great but as it is 17 years old I was wondering about paint condition. While it looks good in the photos sometimes paint does not hold up after that amount of time Aa you have been probably been asked in the past, why would it only have 721 miles after two owners? Apparently no one drove it very often or was it just being stored for its future value to a collector. I’ve sold cars at Barrett Jackson (big mistake) and purchased a number of cars on the mainland, as we call it, so I will have shipping charges form Maine to California and then boat shipment to Hawaii. In any event, please let me know about my question when you have time. Thank you
Aloha,
Rein
Aloha,
The answers to your questions are as follows, the car was purchased from a collector who I know, and it was always kept in a controlled environment at his facility as well as presently kept by myself. Because of this, the paint condition of the original metallic finish is outstanding! there are zero flaws, chips or scratches on the car. I bought the car with approx. 429 miles on it as of 1/13/23 and I have driven it rarely (292 mls.) to account for the current mileage at noted in the pictures. The car is well kept, and I continuously start it monthly along with my other Shelby to keep things maintained. The car needs nothing, it is in great condition both mechanically and aesthetically. I have a large binder with all the Shelby and sale documents that will be passed along with the car,
Bob
I have owned a number of Corvettes but never a Mustang but your car looks very nice and is certainly different from the run of the mill Mustangs or even Shelby’s here in Hawaii. We only have 800,000 people on the whole island and very few cars of this caliber. I am not a collector and while I see that there may be some value in the car as it has some value to a collector, probably not to me in that sense. It appeals to me because of its overall appearance and I think it will be fun to drive. I probably would only put a couple thousand miles a year on it, as my last Corvette grand sport only averaged around 900 per year. Obviously, I will be shipping the car to Long Beach CA for ship transport to Oahu. That will cost me around $4900. AAC auction wants 5% so that’s around $2650. The best I can do on the purchase price would be $54,000 (total to me around $60,550 plus Hawaii tax of $2385). I would be keeping the car as a driver and if I ever did sell it here in Hawaii, our local buyers are not collectors so that value would be lost on them.
I truly appreciate your consideration of my Shelby! I think the obstacles you mentioned for logistics are issues I cannot help you with, it is as you say a special and very desirable Shelby which at my current asking price is well worth the money, either for occasional use or collectability. I may possibly list my 07 Shelby gt500 in the near future, maybe that one will work for you.
Bob
Aloha Bob,
Appreciate your consideration and understand the logistics on my end are somewhat problematic but not insurmountable. Although I’ve never looked into Shelby’s I understand that the 2009 Shelby 500KR is a special car and may command a higher price. I have found two other KR’s on line, one in Florida #0100 (3408 miles) and one in Seattle #0247 (921 miles) but I still prefer yours due to the color combination. If you are willing to accept $60.,000 then I would be happy to purchase your vehicle. Please let me know if that works ( your can drive it whenever you come to Hawaii for a visit !!!).
Aloha,
Rein
