It has been confirmed that this Chevelle has an L78 with L89 aluminum heads. The 4.56 rear gear ratio has also been confirmed!
This indicates it’s a Chevelle SS. The SS models came with a tack in the instrument cluster. This one shows an external, aftermarket tack. Is this a clone?
Further research revealed that the instrument panel tack was an option along with the SS package. The Baltimore, MD factory built 396 and 427 COPO Chevelles. Its unclear if this is a COPO Chevelle without the build sheet and/or original order sheet. The SS was an option in 1969, not a separate model like.

The seller has clarified by letting us know that in going through this car they believe that it is a COPO however they are unable to confirm this 100%. It is not the original engine but it is the period correct L78 motor
