1929 Chrysler Model 65 2-Door Sedan Custom Street Rod – a unique and rarely seen build that blends vintage character with serious street rod performance. Powered by a rebuilt 1957 392 HEMI bored .030 over, this beast cranks out over 390 horsepower, thanks to dual 600 CFM Edelbrock carbs and a 727 TorqueFlite automatic transmission with a GEN 1 floor shift. Power is sent through an 8¾” rear end with 3.23 gears, while a Mustang II front suspension and front disc brakes ensure solid handling and stopping power. Rear brakes are drums.
With approximately 20K miles on the engine build, this older restoration still shows well. Inside, it features a velour interior with front bucket seats, rear bench with seat belts, VDO gauges (including a column-mounted tach), custom tilt steering wheel, overhead console, Pioneer AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth stereo with power antenna, sun visor, tilt-out windshield, and even a Fahrenheit backup camera.
The body has been chopped 2 inches and lowered for a bold, aggressive stance, and is finished in matte black with minor wear. Most of the body is steel, with fiberglass front fenders and original Chrysler wood construction—including the entire roof. ’39 Ford teardrop taillights add a custom touch, and the car rides on red-painted factory steel wheels with whitewall tires, chrome trim rings, and V8-logo hubcaps.
A clean undercarriage, dual straight-pipe exhaust, 40-gallon gas tank, and underbody battery mount round out this solid, driver-quality street rod. Part of an estate sale, the car hasn’t seen much recent road time, but it starts, drives, and handles well—a cool and uncommon cruiser ready for the street.
