This fully custom 1949 Chevrolet Business Coupe is an iconic showpiece and the proud recipient of the prestigious 2001 Don Ridler Award, masterfully built by Hot Rods & Custom Stuff in Escondido, California. The car underwent an extensive, 16-month frame-off restoration and modification process, showcasing craftsmanship at the highest level.

This one-of-a-kind Ridler-winning custom is a timeless blend of engineering, design, and show-stopping appeal — a true collector’s dream.
Custom body modifications to include:
Chopped top. Lowered front 3″ by moving the cowl down. 1″ lower in the rear.
Lengthened doors 2″ / slant B-pillars forward.
Flipped rear window upside down & moved it up around 3″.
Removed radius out of roof by cutting off roof skin, sectioned edges, split down the center from front-to-back & moved apart as needed. Gaps filled.
Made quarter windows solid.
Built custom floor-pans, firewall, and louvered belly pans.
Wedge-sectioned body (4″ at front to 0″ at rear).
Removed rocker panels.
Fabricated door to fit car & rebuild inner door structure.
One-piece side glass & windshield.
Welded center seam of hood & wedge-sectioned hood.
Wedge-sectioned deck-lid.
Fabricated rear roll pan.
Custom taillights recessed in car.
Mercedes headlights grafted into fenders.
All handles / trim / drip rails removed & slicked.
Rear wheel opening modified.
Bumpers removed.
Cantilever hood hinges.
Front wheel opening modified.
Custom exhaust side-pipe in quarters.
Custom inner fender panels & radiator support.
