1972 Plymouth Road Runner – Rotisserie Restored, Matching Numbers, Modern Upgrades
This 1972 Plymouth Road Runner has undergone a full rotisserie restoration with over $140,000 in documented receipts. It blends factory-original character with upgraded performance for a modern driving experience, all while retaining its matching-numbers drivetrain.
The body was meticulously prepped and fitted, resulting in one of the straightest, best-aligned Mopars we’ve ever owned. It’s finished in its factory Lemon Twist Yellow, repainted in base/clear and polished to a show-quality shine. The look is enhanced by factory Black Transverse stripes and rear spoiler, along with dual mirrors and the correct 340 hood. Both bumpers were refinished to a high standard and fit perfectly. All glass is in excellent condition with new seals and weatherstripping. The stance is completed with custom Billet Specialties wheels – 18-inch front, 20-inch rear – wrapped in new Toyo tires.
Inside, the black interior was restored to match the factory spec. New carpet, headliner, and door panels were installed, along with completely redone front and rear bench seats. The dash features a custom gauge setup with a tachometer and controls for the Holley Sniper EFI system. It also has Vintage Air heat and A/C, a custom steering wheel, and retains its factory four-speed transmission with the iconic Pistol Grip shifter. The trunk is clean and detailed, with carpet, relocated battery, spare, and kill switch.
Under the hood, the attention to detail continues. The matching-numbers 340 V8 is equipped with Holley Sniper fuel injection, a custom dual-snorkel air cleaner, Mopar Performance valve covers, and a polished serpentine belt system. It also has power steering, four-wheel power disc brakes, an aluminum radiator, and dual electric fans. The matching-numbers 4-speed transmission and original Sure Grip rear end with 3.23 gears put the power to the pavement. Underneath, the floors and frame are solid and beautifully detailed. Suspension components, fuel system, and brake lines were all replaced during the restoration. The exhaust setup features headers, dual pipes, and MagnaFlow mufflers.
This Road Runner is an exceptional example of high-end restoration paired with modern usability and muscle car pedigree. It runs, drives, and shows just as impressively as it looks. Ready for the street or the show field.
