This beautifully restored 1956 Chevrolet Corvette represents the debut of the now-iconic new body style that helped cement the Corvette’s legendary status. With a factory-correct dual quad 265 V8 and a 3-speed manual transmission, this ’56 offers the perfect blend of vintage performance and classic style.
Exterior:
Finished in Onyx Black with a Silver Cove, this Corvette has undergone a meticulous base coat/clear coat restoration that’s been polished to a mirror-like shine. The body is laser-straight, with excellent panel fitment and a removable hard top paired with the original-style soft top. Chrome bumpers and stainless trim show a brilliant luster front to back, including the side moldings and window trim. A factory-style driver’s mirror and 15-inch steel wheels wrapped in wide whitewall tires with Corvette hubcaps complete the period-correct look.
Interior:
Inside, the striking red upholstery provides a bold contrast to the black exterior. The seats, carpet, door panels, and sill plates are all in excellent condition, having been redone during the restoration. This Corvette features the 3-speed floor-shift manual transmission, and the dashboard retains its classic look with working gauges, including the tachometer. All interior trim is clean and well-detailed, and the trunk is equally tidy, complete with the correct mat.
Drivetrain:
Under the hood, the engine bay is fully detailed and period correct. Power comes from the 265ci V8 (casting #3720991), equipped with the factory dual four-barrel carburetors (2419S & 2362S) atop the correct 378725 intake manifold. It’s topped with original Corvette finned valve covers, and exhaust flows through correct ’56 manifolds into a dual system with rear exits as it should. The engine is paired with a 3-speed manual transmission and the original rear end. Suspension and underbody components are clean and solid, with drum brakes at all four corners. The frame is rock solid, and the floors are beautifully preserved.
