1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Custom – Built by Southern Classic Customs | 502ci V8 | Tremec 6-Speed | Art Morrison Chassis

Offered for sale is a truly exceptional 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air—an elite, frame-off custom build completed by the highly regarded Southern Classic Customs. Finished in Ferrari Rosso Corsa Red, this showpiece represents over three years of meticulous craftsmanship, blending iconic 1950s style with modern performance and flawless execution.

Build Overview:

Starting with a rust-free Real Deal Steel body, SCC streamlined this Bel Air with a refined, minimal approach—deleting excess trim from the quarters, dash, gas door, cowl, and emblems. The bumpers were tucked and shaved for a cleaner profile. The Rosso Corsa PPG finish, applied by SCC’s Brandon Shuping and Howard Brown, is deep and mirror-smooth. It rides on Boze Clutch wheels—275/35/18 up front, 325/35/19 in the rear.

Powertrain:

Under the hood is a fresh GM Performance 502ci V8 making 502 horsepower, outfitted with:

  • Borla Induction intake and throttle body

  • FAST XFI stand-alone EFI system

  • Custom valve covers with circular pattern detailing

The engine is backed by a Tremec T-56 Magnum 6-speed manual from American Powertrain, giving this Tri-Five muscle car modern drivability and rugged performance.

Chassis & Suspension:

  • Art Morrison chassis

  • Strange coilovers and axles

  • 4-wheel Wilwood disc brakes (4-piston front and rear)

  • E-Stopp electric parking brake

The setup delivers outstanding ride quality, cornering, and braking—on par with today’s top performance builds.

Interior:

The custom interior by Sanford Fountain Upholstery features tan leather power seats, a clean, shaved dash, and circular design elements carried through the door panels, console, and trunk.

Highlights include:

  • Dakota Digital RTX Bel Air-style gauges

  • Ididit steering column with color-matched 15” Classic Industries wheel

  • Vintage Air heat and A/C

  • Pioneer head unit with JL Audio speakers and subwoofer in a clean trunk setup

Other Features:

  • Flip-out taillight gas filler

  • LED headlights and taillights

  • Custom metalwork throughout

  • Full photo documentation and receipts

  • Hundreds of build photos included

Awards & Recognition:

This Bel Air has earned major accolades, including:

  • Class Act Award – Goodguys Nashville

  • Top 25 – Danchuk Tri-Five Nationals

  • Best of Show – Auto Crusaders

  • Best Paint – Show for Hope

  • …and many more across the Southeast show circuit

Summary:

This ’55 Bel Air is far more than a restomod—it’s a full custom masterpiece, thoughtfully built to be driven, shown, and admired. With elite components, tasteful design, and a trophy-winning track record, it represents one of the finest Tri-Five builds available today.
