The 1960 Pontiac Ventura Sports Coupe introduced a new series in 1960, featuring two elegantly appointed models: the Ventura Sports Coupe and the Ventura Vista. Throughout the vehicle, one discovers unexpected custom touches, including full carpeting, a distinctive instrument panel, special fabrics and interior design, a custom steering wheel, deluxe wheel discs, and more.

The Ventura interiors boasted three Morrokide three-tone harmonizing combinations and deep-pile wall-to-wall carpeting. Underneath its striking exterior, it boasted some of America’s most advanced engineering innovations for the time. Notable advancements for 1960 included new lower front tunnel air-cooled true-contour brakes, a smoother new hydra-matic transmission, Pontiac’s wide-track wheel design, and a new, quieter, and suppler ride suspension, among others. The wide-track design enhanced the car’s stability and balance, providing a feeling of complete control with reduced lean and sway compared to narrower-track cars.

This particular vehicle left the factory equipped with a Sportable Transistor radio, a fully-powered transistor radio that seamlessly integrates with the car’s electrical and speaker system. Additionally, it features Magi-Cruise, a cruise control system designed for turnpike driving, which maintains throttle setting even when the foot is removed from the accelerator, enhancing comfort.

The car has a noteworthy history, as the previous owner reported winning the ‘Restored Award’ at the 2011 Good Guys Del Mar Nationals California and being a ‘Muscle Car of the Year Finalist’ at the 2013 Good Guys Del Mar Nationals California. With its 389 Tri-Power V-8 engine, General Motors Hydro-Matic transmission, vintage air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, Pontiac eight-lug wheels, Coker white walls, and turnkey condition, this car offers an exhilarating driving experience and embodies the essence of classic American automotive craftsmanship.

Very nice car. The color throws me. Looks nice a high end quick resto. I can see the engine and several other parts like the air cleaner appear to be rattle canned. Then someone sprayed some dealer engine shine gunk on the hoses and various parts/areas.
For the right price it is most definitely a super nice daily driver.

  • JLSLINC says:

I take it that Pontiac did not use 3 separate air cleaners for the trI-power set up? You might want to take the air cleaner off for a photo…..

  • gncalhoun says:

In one photo I see some ugly-ass curb feelers in another they don’t show? How are these installed, drilled holes in body? It lowers my bid for the cost to remove those god awful looking pieces.

  • gncalhoun says:

Was this car purchased from Gene Calhoun in Bristow, Virginia before restoration?
