Please see the updated video here: https://youtu.be/MeBcb05U3qQ

  • Codys Classic Cars says:

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions – idle has been adjusted and new videos will be shot shortly and posted later today. Engine is fine, truck runs and drives excellent. Best of luck to everyone in the auction!

  • Rob says:

Absolutely gorgeous truck. Only question is the clacking/knocking noise the engine is making while idling. I have a 54 that has a valve ticking as most do. That knocking sound is not a valve.

    • Truck says:

Rob, so what do you think rod or main bearing or ? I Know it’s hard to make an absolute call without a tear down but sure would like your opinion.
      Thanks

    • Robert says:

Boy that’s a tough one. The truck is just beautiful and looks to be in top shape I would hate to suggest pulling the motor. I would have at least two shops look at it.
It sounds like a knock not a tappit or valve. My 54 Chevy truck has a valve that clicks and clacks. Has the motor ever been pulled ? Have you driven the truck much ?

    • Truck says:

No , found it for sale. haven’t driven or seen it in person. Cody’s posted some info on it but didn’t have much on the power train. Had a 53 3/4 ton with a 235 and sold it years ago, regretted it ever since.
      Thanks for the quick comeback.

    • Owner says:

It’s sounded like that since i bought it 15 years ago. Experts say its normal. Never have to add oil to it. I drive it all around wausau and to Iola car show (60 miles away) every year for last 15 years.

    • Truck says:

      Thank You for that information.

    • Robert says:

My pleasure. I didn’t want to sound any alarms or scare you. Was just trying to give you some input so you don’t end up with return. Sounds like you haven’t had any issues, and thats good news. I mean the truck appears to be in perfect condition and very well cared for. The video can be deceiving. Maybe upload another while starting and revving it up just a bit. I sure hope it’s fine. You shouldn’t have any trouble selling it as it is done very well !!

    • Robert says:

Listening again it almost sounds like the timing is off a bit or simply idling low. Still love the truck !!

    • Iwner says:

They raised the idol and helped a lot. And he’s going to review it my handler and repost it.

    • Codys Classic Cars says:

Robert, you are spot on! Idle has been adjusted and new videos are coming later today. Stay tuned!

    • Robert says:

That is Good news !!!! These old/early six cylinders often rely on an splash oil system. Low RPM = little/no oil. I am glad it worked out as the truck will make someone very very happy. Unlike a lot of trucks I see yours is done right. Looking forward to new video
