Asking Price: $40,000 Questions

This 1970 Chevrolet Corvette is a classic muscle car that has been upgraded with a powerful Edelbrock Crate 350 engine, a recent addition of Holley Sniper Terminator Max EFI system and a new 4L60-E transmission (Over $11,000 invested). Over $80,000 invested in the entire car!!! Kept in a covered and inclosed garage, this vehicle has been heavily maintained with extensive service records. It comes with a clean and clear Mississippi title. It is a turnkey classic that is ready to be enjoyed by its next new owner with all features and mechanical items working as they should. The icing on the cake is that car has 2 sets of T-Tops. 1 set features tinted clear tops, and 1 set of Daytona yellow tops plus storage covers. All emails and phone calls welcomed.

The stock crate engine produces 430 horsepower, but this Corvette has the addition of a 4 Bolt main Steel Crank, Edelbrock aluminum heads, Edelbrock polished intake, Crane 1.6 roller rockers, cam and lifters (.515 LIFT IN / .530 LIFT EX. 1800-6000 RPM RANGE), Hooker long tube headers, Two 3/4 inch exhaust pipes, and brand new, $3000, factory side pipes making this Corvette a real screamer. This Corvette also has power steering and 4 wheel power brakes. This car has had no expense spared and also includes a new fuel tank with in tank fuel pump. For suspension, this Corvette rides on Bilstein shocks with new rear leaf springs, sway bar, U joints, wheel bearings, and fully adjustable Trac-Arms. The car does sits at factory ride height. THIS CAR CAN HANDLE, ACCELERATE, HIT CORNERS, AND STOP LIKE A DREAM!!! The temp holds at 195 degrees in the heat of the day, with heat or AC running. One of the best parts about the retro styling is the hideaway headlamps, and hideaway wipers that are fully functional, and converted to fully electric (no more vacuum controlled nightmares).

Paint and exterior

The exterior of the Corvette is finished in iconic and beautiful Daytona Yellow paint. This mildly used, 3 owner, never wrecked, beautiful California car only has 8,000 miles since restoration. The body and frame are completely original. No repairs to body have been made or needed and this Corvette has NEVER BEEN WRECKED. Over $14,000 was spent on the Factory Daytona Yellow paint job. The car was completely stripped, primed, painted, and cleared.

Upholstery and interior

The interior is accented by black leather seats with Houndstooth, Black and White inserts, new black carpet and padding that compliments the Daytona Yellow exterior. Both door panels, dash, and interior panels are flawless, new front and rear fiber optics were installed, and a Kenwood stereo with bluetooth. All heater and A/C controls were converted using a Vintage Air System. ICE COLD AC! All factory gauges work and tilt steering is an option here.

A few questions. Is it an original Daytona Yellow car? Trim tag attached with Phillips says Cortez Silver. Any pics on a lift? Owner history and locations? I see a lot of receipts from CA, but also brake sleeves from Clarence, NY.

    • merlinsgarage says:

The original color was Cortez Silver, the car was repainted yellow. We do not have a lift but provided the best undercarriage pictures we could from the ground. The current owner purchased the car out of California…it has been stored indoors here in Mississippi. There is no rust on the undercarriage

I noticed in the attached video that the engine sounds a bit rough. Also the tach was reading 1,000 RPM is that a normal idle speed? Seems a bit high. Any known issues? Love this car!

    • merlinsgarage says:

The car is most certainly not sounding or running rough. That an inaccurate statement. It’s performance built crate engine not a standard engine. That is also standard operating rpm for a higher performance engine. There is absolutely no issues with this vehicle and it is extremely well maintained and in good condition. Not only is it very sound mechanically but it is much more capable as a driver than many of the classic vehicles you see today. The upgrades on this vehicle correct many of the known factory issues and limitations as well as the many maintenance woes. Perhaps taking another look at the description might be a good place to understand that there is absolutely nothing wrong with this vehicle.
