This 1972 AMC Javelin SST is a beautifully restored example of one of the most distinctive pony cars of its era. It’s a top-of-the-line SST built in AMC’s Kenosha, Wisconsin, factory. The Javelin was restyled in 1971 to grow longer, wider, and more muscular, much like the Mustang, and many enthusiasts argue AMC carried the look off with more grace. This car has been comprehensively restored from top to bottom. It wears striking Trans-Am Red paint (code D7) over a warm tan vinyl interior (code 266S), with a lightly modified 304 CID V8 and dual exhausts under the counterbalanced hood. The paint, chrome, and trim are in excellent order, and the engine bay and cargo area are both clean and tidy. The documentation is a real collector’s prize. It includes the original owner’s manual and AMC’s original Buyer Protection Plan booklet. That plan was the industry’s first promise to repair anything except tires for one year or 12,000 miles. The result is a Javelin that is as rich in history as it is fun to drive.
Dual exhausts give the V8 a deep, period-perfect rumble
Torque-Command 3-speed automatic transmission (code A998), the Chrysler-sourced TorqueFlite that AMC adopted for 1972, known for its durability
Power steering for easy, relaxed handling at any speed
Power brakes for confident, assured stopping
Rear-wheel drive for a classic American pony car feel
An extremely tidy engine bay that reflects the depth of the restoration
Exterior
Trans-Am Red paint (code D7), a bold color that nods to AMC’s road-racing heritage
Paint and trim in overall excellent order
Chrome bumpers that fit tightly to the body, a sign of careful restoration work
1972-only “egg crate” front grille, with a matching pattern on the chrome overlay across the full-width taillights
SST trim with additional bright moldings that set it apart from base Javelins
Rolling on five-spoke alloy wheels with Mastercraft MC-440 215/65R15 radials, all in excellent condition. The SST originally came with full-wheel covers.
Driver’s remote-control sideview mirror
Counterbalanced hood and a clean cargo area
Interior
Tan vinyl interior (code 266S) that pairs handsomely with the red exterior
Tan fold-forward front bucket seats and a rear bench seat, both presenting beautifully
Tan carpeting with black floor mats
SST-level appointments, including upgraded upholstery and simulated burled walnut trim on the dashboard and door panels
Rim-blow sports steering wheel, a signature early-’70s feature
Speedometer, clock, fuel gauge, and engine temperature gauge
Inner door panels that match the condition of the rest of the cabin
Known issues: the temperature gauge is inoperative, and the key does not open the door locks

Of all the sites I buy from, ACC’s post auction dealings are far the BEST! They are so far ahead of bring a trailer and the others, it’s incredible!!!!

I love how with ACC, they keep working with the buyer and seller to try to get a deal done even after the live auction ends. They really work hard to make sure both sides end up happy.

I am so happy with my experience buying from ACC. I appreciate the reserve meter which allowed me to plan ahead. The auction did not meet reserve but ACC helped me & the seller reach a very fair deal. The spent 3 days with me and the seller to get it done so everyone was happy! A+ work, unlike any other auction site out there!

I have purchased multiple vehicles through ACC auctions. I have a real passion for classic rare stock performance vehicles. ACC has managed to list some very unique cars, some of which I’ve been fortunate enough to win at auction. I’ve always received extraordinarily punctual high-quality service when I had questions or needed support through a transaction. I’ve even recommended friends marketing vehicles to use ACC auctions to assist them with their transactions. If I recommend them to my friends, I would certainly recommend to anybody!

I have sold 26 items (and counting!) on ACC, and I have to say that the ACC site is powerful and easy to work with and Joe is friendly, professional, supportive, and responsive. ACC has been great for my business!! I would highly recommend ACC to anyone looking to sell their vehicle.

We really appreciate how ACC continues to work with both parties even after the live auction has ended. They were able to help us reach a deal with the high bidder 4 days after the auction ended, a deal that was fair for both sides and everyone was happy. Hard working staff at ACC really seemed to care about helping us get the sale completed even though it was not a high dollar sale that would make them much on the buyer’s fee. Will use again and will be recommending to my friends!

ACC Auctions has been a wonderful resource for us and our dealership! The process of listing vehicles on ACC Auctions is very simple and the wide exposure has helped us reach more buyers and get more cars sold. There have been times where reserves have not been met, but even after the auction has ended Joe works very hard trying to put deals together that work for both parties. And in many cases, he’s been successful. We can’t say enough about how much he cares about his customers and how hard he works to be a world-class auction site!

Joe and his team are always a pleasure to deal with. They are quick to answer any questions or concerns that a seller or buyer would have. Always willing to work with the seller and buyer to make a sale happen. The auction site is easy to navigate and user friendly. I have been dealing with Joe for many years and would highly recommend him and his team.

I’ve sold a couple cars through ACC Auctions and have experienced very satisfactory results. I find the process to list a car, place bids, and ask questions or make comments extremely simple, which is greatly appreciated by those who didn’t grow up with modern technology. The greatest benefit, though, is having the ability to communicate directly with the person in charge, Joe, and receiving timely responses. I don’t find this easily available with most widely known auction sites.
