In 1976, Jaguar continued its evolution by introducing the new XJS Coupe, following the retirement of the iconic E-type in 1974. The XJS carried forward Jaguar’s DNA as a true luxury touring car, excelling in comfort and effortless cruising. Its design featured modern, aggressive lines, and it maintained steady sales year after year. The XJS came with an impressive price tag, reflecting its luxurious touches and high-performance mechanics.

By May 1991, the third iteration of the XJS was launched, showcasing numerous improvements in reliability and enhancements to its appearance. Under Ford’s ownership, the aging model received a revitalizing update. The brakes were moved to the less complicated outboard position to complement the existing ABS, and the automatic transmission was upgraded to a four-speed with overdrive. In 1992, this luxury cruiser was priced in the $80,000+ range, offering high-end performance and comfort. With a production run spanning over twenty years and producing more than 100,000 units, the XJS has become a beloved classic, well-maintained by its dedicated owners and still available at reasonable collector prices.

This is the 1992 Jaguar XJS Series III 12 Cylinder Convertible. It is in amazing condition—definitely excellent driver quality. Standard equipment includes leather seats, an AM/FM cassette (which has been updated, but the original unit comes with the car), air conditioning, driver airbag, power brakes, power steering, power windows, tilt steering, and an automatic transmission with overdrive. The paint, interior, and top are original and beautifully maintained. The only obvious cosmetic issue is some corrosion on the wheels, which could be restored to a better appearance—see pictures.

Under the care of the present owner, the brakes have been serviced, tires replaced, and the A/C compressor has been replaced, along with other normal maintenance as required. Extensive records of all maintenance and repairs accompany the car upon sale. It has been garaged throughout its life until now. The owner lost his storage space, so the car needs to be moved indoors to maintain its wonderful appearance.

The odometer shows approximately 46,000 miles, and based on records and condition, this is believed to be accurate. The car has been driven sparingly due to serious health problems that arose after purchase. Now, this beautiful Jaguar is ready for a new home where it will be loved and cared for as diligently as its previous owners. The car is located in southeastern Connecticut with the owner’s son but is currently registered in neighboring Rhode Island.
