For enthusiasts pining for a modern Trans Am, we have a vehicle for you to take a closer look at. Since the demise of the Pontiac Division in late-2010, the result of a Chapter 11 reorganization of GM, the absence of the Trans Am has left a hole in the car community for many enthusiasts. The hope of buying a ""new"" Trans Am seemed out of reach, but a company called Trans Am Worldwide made the move to begin creating ""new"" Trans Ams. We do realize that the price of the car doesn't make it within reach for many enthusiasts, but we do really appreciate the changes made to the base Camaro to create this unique bird. You certainly can't miss that big ""screaming chicken"" on the hood, and can't deny that this car is reminiscent of the Bandit TransAm. The vehicle you see here is a 2019 Trans Am Worldwide Super Duty 455 finished in Black over a two tone interior, and currently showing approximately 1,605 miles on the digital odometer.
A Camaro base is used to begin the task of creating a Trans Am style car, not unlike the similarity of the Firebirds and Camaros of past generations. This car's base was a 2017 Camaro. It's easy to see the big changes to make this a TransAm such as the nose of the car having the two recognizable openings and a pointier shape than the Camaro. The tail lights have obviously been changed, and follow the same styling as the later Second Generation Firebirds. It's the smaller styling items that have been added that really get our attention. Side vents in the front fenders, shaker style hood, rear spoiler, stacked exhaust pipes, ""TransAm"" and ""Super Duty"" badging, and of course the big bird decal on the hood. The car sits on 20"" multi-piece custom wheels wrapped in sticky Michelin tires.
If you've driven, or been around enough of the current generation Camaros, the interior will be quite familiar to you. It just wouldn't be a TransAm without a few unique touches though. Those come in the form of a TransAm badged steering wheel, Firebird logos on the floor mats, custom shift knob, and ""Super Duty 455"" badged gauges. The seats are the familiar buckets, though they are two tone, and have embroidered Firebird logos added. Blue stitching can be found around the perimeter of the seats which appears to be a nod to the blue used on the '73 and '74 Super Duty cars. The gauges and infotainment system have the features that one would expect to see in a Camaro, from navigation, to the multifunction gauge cluster. On the center armrest is a badge that proclaims that the horsepower of the car ""exceeds"" 1000, and torque ""exceeds"" 1046. Quite a claim, but once aware of what is under the hood, that claim makes sense.
Beneath the ""Screaming Chicken"" adorned hood is a 7.4 Liter V8, and for all of you muscle car performance fans who like to hear an engine size in cubic inches, that is a 455 cubic inch engine. Hence the car being badged a Super Duty. However, not only is the engine a 455, it also has a Whipple supercharger strapped to the top, so performing smokey burnouts like a certain bandit is definitely possible. Though you may want to be careful with that, we have to assume you don't have a buddy like Snowman interfering with the law on your behalf. Appropriate supporting mods have been carried out in the engine, and gear selection is handled by a 6-speed manual transmission, with power driven to the rear wheels.
As number 12 of 50 built, this TransAm is more exclusive than a late-70's Bandit style TransAm. Creating this car wasn't as simple as adding a few TransAm badges, it's been done to the highest order from new body panels to custom interior components, and a monster powerplant. Just as the past generation Camaros and Firebirds shared many components, this car has Camaro underpinnings, but its own exclusive TransAm flair. Please call if interested or e-mail with specific questions. Thanks for looking.
