Gateway Classic Cars of Scottsdale is enthusiastically offering this 1984 Jaguar XJS with a Chevrolet powertrain in our Arizona showroom, located in North Phoenix. Weââ?¬â?˘ve all heard the term ââ?¬Ë?special relationshipââ?¬â?˘ describing the friendship between the United States and Great Britain on the world scene, but this has to be the ultimate personification of this association. These Jaguars are nothing short of beautiful to look at but owning one and having to keep up with the complex engineering on the V6 or V12 motors that these Jags came with is definitely the major drawback. This build literally solves that conundrum: a Chevrolet 454 CID big-block V8 has been expertly fitted in the engine bay and comes bursting at the seams with 485 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque (these claims are made by the seller and not verified by Gateway Classic Cars). Much of what is under the hood is high performance or upgraded including a mild cam, high compression heads, aftermarket radiator/cooling system and a 650 Edelbrock carburetor. This motor is paired with a Turbo 400 3-speed automatic transmission that was rebuilt less than 2000 miles ago. This British icon that was once calm and composed with a stiff upper lip has been brashly Americanized by our seller, who has owned this Jag for a quarter of a century, and we love it. Itââ?¬â?˘s time for this dual citizen to find a new owner- imagine how many heads youââ?¬â?˘ll turn with a build like this?! Our Scottsdale showroom is Gateway Classic Cars’ 16th location and opened in September 2017. We are located in Phoenix, Arizona which is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States and our reputation as the ‘Valley of the Sun’ allows for a year-round car season and a perfect environment to preserve vintage automobiles. Scottsdale is known as the home of the famous Barrett Jackson auction that draws thousands of collectors and enthusiasts to the Phoenix area every year. Our large and growing inventory includes plenty of desirable ‘southwest cars’ that have not been exposed to road salt and inclement weather like in many other US locations. We encourage our local car clubs and enthusiasts to come check us out on the last Saturday of every month for our Cars and Coffee event and cruise around our awesome 42,000 square-foot, air conditioned showroom.
