This suv is the original and is in excellent running condition with a restored, reinforced body (front fenders replaced by current owner around 1990].
This is the perfect father/son refurbishing project, with easy availability of replacement parts and an obvious major increase in value; it would involve minor body repairs, new paint & interior refurbishment to take it to Hagerty Condition #2 ($46k). Even a new crate motor would be economic. See current Hagerty valuations in photos, along with 2019 valuations and increase to 2022. The Blazer is and will continue to be a hot classic, following the Bronco.
Currently running a '75 vintage truck motor [not the original], 4-bolt main smallblock 350cu w/HEI, Q-jet carb, "Ramshorn" headers & Dual exhausts. Replacement oversized radiator.
Many original options, including diamond-plate running boards, heavy-duty rear bumper w/integral hitch, dual battery setup for secure sub-zero starts, HUBS [to relieve full-time 4wd], oversize rear view mirrors.
Interior in decent shape with original upholstery [rear seat moved to side to allow long cargo] {Driver's seat broke - still functional - since ad placed}. Original floors replaced, rear floor by 1/4 in diamond plate. New fenders with liners. Original orange color on hood and tailgate replaced by Rustoleum black to match fenders. Original 350TH trans. Mileage about 148k as shown.. Never used for plowing, so frame is in excellent condition, only surface rust - see pics. New Goodyear Wrangler all-season tires.
The vehicle life has been on local 2-lane highways and forestry & logging roads, in heavy snow country. No known freeway use. One of the great reliable vehicles for off-road reliability, i.e. getting you into the deep woods AND back out again. Vehicle stored for 12 years, back on the road in 2017. Since 2004, used only in summers.
This is one of the best examples of this model existing, now classic status, per Hagerty, which rates it as the 2nd in 2019 of the "10 hottest classics of the summer." Hagerty's"Average sales price $14,000--THEN" NOW, as of 7/15/21, is $ 22,400. (a modest 60% increase in 2 years).
JUNE 2022: Hagerty advises increasing insurance coverage by $7,500. (See photos section)
It requires no rebuilding/repair to operate indefinitely. It would benefit from a modern powerful smallblock upgrade and a new driver-side floor plus driver's seat..
Asking $18,500 OBO. [cash talks]

MODEL OVERVIEW
While Jeep, International, and Ford had been making small off-road-oriented but decidedly on-road used multi-purpose vehicles, it was GM who super-sized them to the half-ton pickup platform. Essentially a K-10pickup with a very short integral box as part of the interior, the K-5 Blazer pioneered the pickup-based SUV. While retaining the stock pickup doors, the standard top was made out of fiberglass and could be unbolted. The Blazer was also available without a top or with a vinyl soft top, but the hard top was by far the most popular choice. All Blazers had a tailgate/lift gate configuration in the back. Both model range and powertrain availability also mirrored the half-ton pickups. The Blazer proved successful enough that when GM redesigned their trucks for 1973, the Blazer was part ofthe program. For the second generation Chevrolet Blazer the top was abbreviated, just covering the rear section aft of the cab. Again, model range and powertrains mirrored the pickups. It was also successful enough that it was copied by Chrysler with the Dodge Ramchager and Plymouth Trailduster in 1974 and by Ford with the second-generation of the popular Bronco in 1978.The Blazer also got pressed into military service as part of the U.S. Department of Defense CUCV (Commercial Utility Cargo Vehicle) program for civilian based tactical trucks in the early 1980s. The M-2009Command Vehicle, built from 1983-86, was nothing more than a very heavy duty Blazer with military-specific components and chemical resistant paint. All were fitted with 6.2-liter diesel V-8s and TH400 automatic transmissions, making them the only Blazers rated as -tons.The Blazer had been successful enough for GM that the same basic design of 1973 lasted all the way until1991.
