"1969 Chevrolet K10 Pickup
The model year 1960 brought the Chevrolet pickup into the modern era with its C/K series lineup. The ""C"" designation identified two-wheel-drive pickups, and the ""K"" identified 4X4s. The most common pickup was the C10, a half-ton truck with a 6.5- or 8-foot cargo box. The C/K series trucks remained essentially the same vehicle during a series of conservative redesigns, until 1997, when the 1998 Silverado replaced it.
Chevrolet produces some of the finest trucks on the planet and has been doing so for a long time. Within each model range their avid fans, and this 1969 iteration is no exception. Thistruck was painstakingly and lovingly restored, and sports power steering, power brakes and the frame was blasted and coated in POR15. Add in a 250ci inline 6 and you have a truck that's ready to show and go reliably. We have a winner! Bingo.
Exterior
Finished in an orange respray, there are some waves in the bodywork and a few inclusions, but the paint remains very nice. The chrome is in overall good condition along with badging and trim. Up front, single headlights in a chrome bezel flank a chrome tie bar across the egg crate grille and above a blue bowtie embellishment leads the way to the long steel hood. Racing back the hood are a pair of black painted rally stripes that continue down and over thebody matching orange painted front bumper. In the long steel bed, we note a thick rubber bed mat and orange painted steel bedside and bulkhead. A few scuffs are showing in the bed steel but no notable dents are seen. The twin black stripes reappear on the white CHEVROLET embossed tailgate and tall thin rectangle tail lights dress the back of the bed sides. 15"" black gun drilled wheels are on all 4 corners and are wrapped in knobby 31x10.50R15 Goodyear Wrangler rubber.
Interior
A complete redo inside here with pristine black door panels with a vertical orange stripe through the center, nice door handles and cranks and solid orange steel surrounds. Looking inside there is a new bench seat with orange and black houndstooth inserts and smooth vinyl bolsters in orange. A small pinhole is noted in the lower outside driver's bolster, but all else is factory fresh. A slightly worn stock 2 spoke steering wheel atop the factory column fronting the original dash. The three on the tree shifter resides here and a black padded top all steel dash which matches the exterior houses the original gauge cluster, heater controls, and factory installed AM radio. The glove box door sits in front of the passenger, while clean orange carpet in good condition floods the floor and allows the shifter for the 4 wheel drive to grow upward. Above we note a simple ribbed steel headliner in orange.
Drivetrain
Under the long heavy steel hood sits an Chevroletorange/reddish painted 250ci inline 6 cylinder. This sits in a dusty and patinaed engine bay and a 1-barrel carburetor sits atop under a black air cleaner assembly. A 3-speed manual transmission is attached to the back of this reliable engine and 12-bolt rear is also noted. Scanning the engine bay we see a newer brake master cylinder as well as this truck being power steering equipped.
Undercarriage
The strong blasted and POR15 black painted frame provides the backbone for the grayish black finished steel underside of the bed and road drip splattered cab. We note one area of rust on a body support but all else is solid. We also see power drum brakes for all 4 corners and leaf spring suspension both front and rear. A single exhaust system works its way down to a glasspack style muffler that turns outward to end just in front of the driver's rear tire.
Drive-Ability
A turn of the key and this engine came to life and settled into a smooth idle. Slipping the column shifter into first and we were off to the races, or rather the Classic Auto Mall acreage, where the transmission shifted smoothly, no hesitation in the engine, and a typical truck ride. The new interior proved to be comfortable.
A decent quality restoration with many new parts applied to a rust free solid bodied truck. A few faults on the paint and bodywork front but overall, a nice job, and we have a truck available for the 69 era K-10 fans.
