Gateway Classic Cars of Houston
1910 Cypress Station Dr.
Houston, TX 77090
Gateway Classic Cars of Houston is pleased to present this visually stunning Candy Apple Red 1968 Chevrolet Corvette convertible. At first sight, this House of Colors Candy Apple Red over the Orion Silver base custom paint job, which was applied by the famed K&S Paint crew here in Houston, just blows you away! If the 14 coats of clear and 7 additional coats of hand rubbed "clear clear" are too much for you, then just stop now. This 1968 Corvette underwent an extensive "frame on" restoration back in 2008, which is when everything was added. From the nasty sounding 427 C.I.D., to the new convertible top, the complete wiring harness, the double layer of heat/sound proofing insulation, shaved door handles with electronic poppers, etc., it is clear there was very little expense spared on this build & it certainly shows in this finished product! The after market 427 build is topped with a Holley 750cfm carb, runs through the Muncie M-22 4-speed manual and a Centerforce II "Street/Strip" clutch assembly, is cooled with an auto-on dual electric fan system & a BeCool aluminum radiator set up. The exhaust is handled through the Hooker "Super Comp" headers that have been coated with a "Jet Hot" coating & exits through the Flowmaster 40 Series Delta Flow exhaust system. The interior was also redone while the insulation & wiring was being completed, and thats when the seats were rebuilt and recovered, with the addition of the headrests and the complete high end audio system, electric telescoping antenna, dual battery set up and the African Blood wood trim interior accents were installed. The rear suspension work was also just recently completed by the well-known Corvette Doctors, as well as the new fuel tank. This is a truly unique 1968 Corvette that is ready to compete on both the strip as well as the show circuit!
