"This 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz is a beautifully restored 50s cruiser and is only 1 of 815 Eldorado Biarritz Convertibles produced in '58. 1958 was an interesting year for Cadillac, General Motors, and the American automobile industry as a whole. On February 7, 1958, Cadillac produced its two-millionth automobile. Interestingly, it took Cadillac 47 years to build one million cars but only 8 years to reach the two-million mark. For General Motors, the American automaker celebrated its 50th anniversary but the timing was not ideal. Despite seeing technological advancements in 1958, the entire industry experienced a sharp downturn in sales. See, the United States' economy suffered from a recession which stifled sales across an auto industry that steadily rose since the end of World War II. For Cadillac, that downturn amounted to the GM marque selling 25,000 fewer units from the previous year. In terms of innovation, seemingly all American car manufacturers transitioned to a quad headlight setup which provided improved lighting with more precision. Moreover, nearly every 1958 Cadillac model was significantly redesigned from the previous year models. At the nose, a new-look grille was added that was larger and wider, and accented by cylindrical ""cleats"" that connected horizontal and vertical cross-members. The Dagmar bumper guards and parking lights were also relocated to a lower portion of the front end. Like the rest of 1958 automobiles, the '58 Cadillacs also featured a quad headlight setup with each pair of headlights accented with decorative chrome trim. Down the sides, the trim was more refined and featured 5 horizonal windsplints ahead of the rear wheel housing. At the rear, the new-look tailfins were less pronounced and the rear bumper retained it's split design but was redesigned as well. Sitting atop Cadillac's convertible heirarchy was the Eldorado Biarritz, sporting elevated trim and improved standard options. In total, only 815 Eldorado Biarritz Convertibles were produced in 1958 and they came with a price tag of $7,500, nearly 30% higher than the standard Series 62. Under the hood on this particular 58 Cadillac is a 365 Cubic Inch V8 engine paired with a single 4 barrel carburetor that was said to have pushed out 310 horsepower when new. The 365 V8 is backed by a Hydra-Matic Automatic Transmission that ensures that just about anybody can take this 50s Cadillac for a spin around the block. Exhaust exits the Cadillac 365 via a dual exhaust setup that gives this classic Cadillac a nice throaty sound. Being that this Biarritz was the top-of-the-line convertible for Cadillac in 1958, it comes loaded with numerous desirable options. Power brakes makes bringing this 1958 Cadillac to a complete stop much easier, improving the overall driving experience. With power steering, squeezing in and out of tight spaces at the local drive-in or car show is a total breeze. The blue Haartz cloth power convertible top is in fantastic shape and it goes up and down with the simple flick of a switch, and when the top is down it tucks beneath a color-matched parade boot. Riding on a set of Sabre wheels paired with wide whitewall radial tires, this 1958 Eldorado Biarritz has a great 50s look and even better ride. The exterior has been correctly refinished in a beautiful Argyle Blue that completes the regal exterior appearance of this '58 Cadillac. The interior on this 1958 Eldorado is absolutely gorgeous! The front and rear bench seats have been reupholstered in beautiful blue leather. The matching blue dash, upholstered door panels, blue carpeting and steering wheel are all in wonderful condition and appear to be in their stock configuration. Being that this 1958 Biarritz is a Cadillac, the interior comes loaded with numerous interior options including power front seat, power windows, and an Autronic Eye which is a wonderful 50s novelty on this top-of-the-line Cadillac Convertible. The padded dash is equipped with a 120 MPH speedometer, temperature gauge, fuel gauge, clock and push-button AM radio. Whether you're purchasing your first classic car or you're adding to your existing Cadillac collection, this 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz would make an excellent choice.
