In 1951 Chevrolet made 4 Fisher bodied Ambulances for the US Army to evaluate. It is believed this one was commissioned to Fort Knox. The design was accepted and in 1952 Chevrolet made about 100 Fisher bodied Ambulances, mostly for the military. Of the original four 1951 examples, I have found photos one other on the internet. This is a rare car! The body is rust free, the Interior was redone some years ago in blue fabric, the engine has been replaced with a Chevy 350 crate motor, dual exhaust and automatic transmission. Disc brakes and radial tires have been added as well as an aftermarket heater. The exterior paint is black primer sanded with 400 grit, note the last 5 photos in this listing show the car wet in order to illustrate how it would look with a clear coat. This car is super reliable and it drives like a 1970's car. Enjoy it as is, or restore it to its former glory. Call me to schedule a test drive, I like vintage motorcycles and encourage a trade if you have one. Thanks, John
