1930 Ford Model A Coupe
This hot rod Ford Model A is a well done, nostalgically correct, neat and clean, and fuel efficient coupe. This is what a cool ride looks like. This is the kind of rod that can be driven in comfort a car made to go out on the road, not a trailer queen. It is in extremely good condition with about 23K miles on the clock, proof of its roadworthiness. It has been owned by the seller for nearly 20 years, during which time it has been continually improved and upgraded. This Ford is not only dependable and fun to drive, but also a compact package of thoughtful conveniences, not often found in these Model A coupes. Touch the key, crank this baby up, and go wherever you want to drive with no more thought to it than firing up the family car.
What we got here is a Model A coupe that left the Dearborn Ford plant in 1930 with a tiny 4 cylinder motor, but now has a modern drive train featuring a 4.3 liter Vortec V6 engine, always kept in top condition, and dressed in sparkling chrome and polished aluminum. Coming from a mid 90s C10 donor pickup, this Chevy V6 develops 195 horsepower, so this lightweight coupe is surprisingly quick and nimble. The throttle body injection was jettisoned for a 4 barrel carburetor to keep things simple. Behind this powerful little engine is a GM 700R4 automatic overdrive transmission, which in turn, transfers the GO to a 10 bolt Nova rear end. The result is a power train with instant acceleration and high speed economy. At freeway speeds, this little A Bone rolls at up to 30 mpg, making it one very cool hot rod.
The rust free steel body has not been chopped or filled, so there is plenty of headroom. The tinted glass, chrome trim, rubber, and paint are in superb condition, and the Deuce grille gives it hot rod credibility. Up front, it has disk brakes, and aft, the rear end has coilover suspension and drum brakes. This car rides on Big n Little radial tires wrapped around American Racing 5 spoke alloy rims, 14 inch in front and 15 inch aft. Ceramic coated headers feed a dual exhaust system that has a unique throaty rumble, and the coupe has a great stance, thanks to the dropped front axle and staggered tire setup. A big aluminum radiator behind the Deuce grille keeps the power plant cool in all weather.
It is an eye catching beauty, with a Chantilly Cream finish, tastefully accented with pinstriping and beltline stripes. Inside, very comfortable seating is upholstered in light charcoal textured cloth, and the cabin is always comfortable thanks to the Vintage air conditioning and heat system. It has power windows, a fold down armrest, retractable cup holder, VDO instruments, tilt steering column, wood grained steering wheel, and a top shelf AM/FM/CD sound system and the power window swiches are mounted above the windshield. The trunk is finished and no detail has been overlooked.
