1990 Chevy SS454 Pickup black with red interior. Equipped with original 7.4l (454) V8 with turbo 400 transmission and 3.73 differential. OEM engine and transmission, performance handling package and SS interior package. Fresh out of storage for the past 12 years, fuel and cooling system completely renewed. General Motors introduced the 454 SS for the 1990 model year, giving enthusiasts a shot at muscle-bound big block V8 power in a pickup-truck wrapper. These days, performance options in the pickup segment are plentiful, but when it was new, the Chevy 454 SS was a relatively novel offering from a major automaker. Now, this exceptional collector truck is up for auction by the original owner.<\/p>\n

Like all 1990 Chevy 454 SS models, this truck is finished in Onyx Black (later model years were also offered in Victory Red and Summit White), and features 15-inch wheels with a chrome finish and Chevy center caps. The wheels are original equipment (however the original 270\/65R15 BFGoodrich Comp T\/A tires) have been replaced by a set of Michelin’s …. but the spare is original. The exterior trim matches the rest of the body, while up front the SS features a black grill, front air dam and fog lamps.<\/p>\n

Inside the cabin the SS is equipped with the OEM Garnet Red cloth upholstery with patterned inserts, plus the factory air conditioning and cassette stereo, the latter of which includes a graphic equalizer. Electric windows and cruise control.<\/p>\n

The big-ticket item for the Chevy 454 SS is under the hood, where we find a 454 cubic-inch 7.4 litre throttle body injected V8 engine paired to a heavy duty three-speed turbo hydromatic transmission and locking 3.73:1 rear differential. Output was rated at 230 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque from the factory on regular gas, while the Performance Handling and Sport Appearance package adds in Bilstein shocks and a front stabilizer bar. Both engine and transmission oil coolers were standard equipment.<\/p>\n

All in all, this is a very clean example of the 1990 Chevy 454 SS pickup, all original…. , stored by the owner in the family garage for the past 12 years. Upgraded engine options are plentiful for more power if it is desired, without the need for drive train upgrades.
