With its longer wheelbase, removable fiberglass Terra top, and classic IH styling, the Terra is already hard to come by\u2014and this one has been carefully restored and tastefully upgraded while keeping originality intact.<\/p>\n<p><strong>History &amp; Provenance<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"s2\">Originally purchased new in 1978 (\u201979 model year) and stayed with the same family until 1996.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"s2\">Rediscovered and brought back by the original owner\u2019s son in 2008.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"s2\">I purchased it in 2022, after it had already undergone extensive restoration in 2013.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"s2\">Always stored with care and used only for street driving since.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Restoration &amp; Condition<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"s2\">Professionally repainted in its <\/span><strong>factory-correct IH Lexington Blue<\/strong><span class=\"s2\">, stripped to bare metal before paint.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"s2\">Body, frame, doors, hood, and tailgate are <\/span><strong>original sheet metal<\/strong><span class=\"s2\">\u2014straight, solid, and rust-free.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"s2\">Fiberglass Terra top bed-lined white; bed and interior lined in Lexington Blue\u2013tinted bed liner for durability.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"s2\">Interior includes upgraded sound deadening, custom-covered steel door panels, and modern Alpine Bluetooth stereo (vintage 1979 Sanyo unit included as a collectible).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"s2\">Overall, this Scout is both <\/span><strong>collector-quality<\/strong> and ready to enjoy as a reliable driver.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Powertrain<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"s2\">Stock drivetrain: 345 V8 engine, Borg-Warner T19 wide-ratio 4-speed manual, Dana 20 transfer case, Dana 44 axles.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"s2\">Original 345 was replaced with a healthy 345 (all seals replaced, remanufactured oil pump, cleaned and repainted).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"s2\">Champion 3-row aluminum radiator with stock fitment.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"s2\">Lokar throttle linkage (bolt-in, reversible).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"s2\">Hi-torque starter and RPT mounts for reliability.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"s2\">Dual exhaust with Walker Sound FX mufflers (stock manifolds).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"s2\">Mileage unknown due to speedometer replacement, but only a few thousand since restoration.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Upgrades &amp;
