Hoping to sell 5,000 units, Pontiac executives were stunned to discover that they had sold 32,450 units by year&#8217;s end, inadvertently starting the muscle car era. This move spawned many desirable automobiles, but the GTO is fondly remembered as one of the best-looking street warriors ever produced.<\/p>\n<p>Our handsome Cameo Ivory (C) 1965 GTO Convertible beautifully illustrates the crisp styling (and proper exhaust note) that make these icons irresistible. Beneath the familiar scooped and now functional hood is a freshly rebuilt 389 V8 with the legendary Tri-Power induction. This tiger has been fully balanced and decked by the pros at AMS Racing in LA, sports a stout hydraulic roller cam, and belts out a healthy 411 hp on the dyno.<\/p>\n<p>Additional features include power steering, power 4-wheel disc brakes with drilled and slotted rotors, power top, a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission with Hurst shifter, tubular steel A-arms with coilovers, tubular steel rear lower control arms, adjustable upper control arms, adjustable shocks, a stainless steel dual exhaust system with stainless Pypes mufflers, Rally Gauge Cluster, tilt steering column, console, and classic B.F.G. Redline tires (205\/75R15 front, 225\/70R15 rear) wrapped around appropriate Cragar S\/S wheels.<\/p>\n<p>PHS documentation confirms this beauty was always a Tri-Power and Cameo Ivory car, although it originally had a red interior with an automatic transmission.
