This 1972 Chevrolet Monte Carlo is powered by a 402ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and is finished in Orange Flame over saddle vinyl upholstery. Additional equipment includes a tan vinyl roof covering, 15″ rally-style wheels, power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, chrome bumpers, air conditioning, front and rear seatbelts, and a push-button AM/FM/cassette stereo. The car was acquired by the selling dealer in January 2022 and was subsequently relocated to Michigan. This Monte Carlo is now offered with manufacturer’s literature and a clean Maryland title.
The car is finished in Orange Flame (65) and features a tan vinyl roof covering. Additional exterior details include chrome bumpers, a single side mirror, bright body trim, and dual exhaust outlets.
Rally-style 15″ steel wheels wear bright trim rings and center caps and are mounted with 225/70 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Power steering was a standard feature for the 1972 model year, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.
The cabin houses bench seating trimmed in button-tufted saddle (735) vinyl upholstery along with a matching dashboard and door panels. Simulated woodgrain trim accents the dashboard and steering wheel, and interior appointments include air conditioning, front three-point seatbelts, rear lap belts, manual crank windows, an analog clock, clip-on vanity mirrors, and a push-button AM/FM/cassette stereo. Photos in the gallery show that the upper portion of the dashboard is separating from the lower portion, and the mirror control knob is missing.
The two-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and a fuel-level gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 85k miles, approximately 100 of which were added by the selling dealer.
The 402ci Turbo-Jet V8 was fitted from the factory with a four-barrel carburetor and a dual-exhaust system and was rated at 240 horsepower when new. The air conditioning system was converted to utilize R134a refrigerant under prior ownership and an oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.
The engine serial number stamp reads 2L518302, which matches the last eight digits on the car’s VIN plate. Additional casting numbers are shown in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. Additional underside images are presented in the gallery below.
