Presenting the 1968 Dodge Charger R/T, an iconic American muscle car featuring its original numbers-matching 440 V8 engine. This remarkable vehicle was owned by the same registered owner for nearly 40 years, making it a rare opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts. Below, we’ll provide an overview of the exterior, interior, and driveline of this classic Dodge Charger.

Starting with the exterior, this Charger boasts a rock-solid body that has been meticulously cared for. The panels are well-fitted, with smooth body lines flowing seamlessly from front to back. It features the working hood-mounted turn signals, and the optional remote driver-side mirror. The car is finished in its original factory PP1 Red, which has been redone in a base coat/clear coat finish and buffed to a stunning, glossy shine. The Red is complemented by the factory-optioned Black vinyl top and black tail stripes. Additionally, the car is adorned with wheel opening moldings, belt line trim, and drip rail moldings. Both the front and rear bumpers have a brilliant chrome finish, and the rear tail lights and front hidden headlights are in excellent working condition. All the glass, seals, and weather stripping are in great shape, and the car sits on classic Magnum 500 wheels with BF Goodrich Radial T/A White Letter tires for a perfect stance.

Moving to the interior, the Charger R/T features a factory black interior that perfectly matches the exterior color scheme. It retains its original bucket seats and center console, which houses the automatic shifter. The front and rear door panels are in excellent condition, and the windows roll up and down smoothly. The dashboard is also well-preserved, with all the padding in great shape and all the gauges functioning correctly. It features a three-spoke wood-grain steering wheel. Both the carpet and headliner are in excellent condition, fitting well throughout the interior. Inside the trunk, everything is solid, detailed in the same Red finish as the exterior.

Under the hood, the engine bay is clean and well-detailed, with rock-solid inner fenders and a firewall. The original fender tag is still in place. Powering this classic is the original L Code 440 V8 engine, equipped with the correct 2806178 intake manifold and Carter 4429S four-barrel carburetor. The engine is dressed in factory-style valve covers and air cleaner. This Charger comes with power steering and power brakes for added convenience. The exhaust system includes the correct manifolds, dual pipes, and mufflers, providing a classic muscle car sound. Power is delivered through a 1968 model 727 automatic transmission, connected to a correct 2881489 case 8 ¾” rear end with factory 3.23 Sure Grip gears.

Underneath, the frame and floors are solid and painted in body color, showcasing the quality of the restoration. The suspension components, including bushings and ball joints, are in great condition. A new gas tank was installed during the restoration, and the fuel and brake lines are in excellent shape. On the road, this Charger runs exceptionally well, offering plenty of power and smooth shifting through the gears.

Don’t miss the chance to own this iconic 1968 Dodge Charger R/T, a true piece of American muscle car history, ready for the road and car shows alike.

When was it restored? Your reserve price appears to be approx $135k, which appears to be at least $35k too high with these kind of miles.

    • ACC Auctions says:

      from the seller:

In the current market for 2024, the ’68 Charger RT 440 cars are selling between 110-135K for a matching number car. Values vary depending on the quality of the car. Factoring in this is a highly desirable color combo you should expect around a 10% increase on value compared to similar quality cars that aren’t factory red cars.

    • paulbeiter says:

How many miles since restoration? Has an engine compression test been done recently?

    • ACC Auctions says:

      from the seller:

I purchased the vehicle already restored. I have not ran a compression check personally.
