1939 Ford 4 Door Deluxe Sedan Convertible.
This 1939 car is a true beauty, with excellent paint and bodywork. Its dark green color, known as Tropical Green lacquer, gives it a unique appearance that may initially be mistaken for black. The car features original 16″ steel wheels, wheel rings, and Ford V8 center caps. It rides on wide white wall tires measuring 600 x 16″. The original chrome front and rear bumpers, as well as the stainless trim, are in show condition. The car retains its original front/side glass and rear taillight/headlight lenses.
Inside, the car showcases its original banjo steering wheel, gauges, clock, and factory-installed heater. The top was replaced in 1993, and the car still maintains its standard 6-volt electrical system. Under the hood, you’ll find the original 221 Flathead V8 engine, which produces 85 horsepower. Power is transmitted through a 3-speed manual transmission.
The car has an interesting history. It was first owned by someone in Massachusetts who drove it for 27 years. The second owner, from Rhode Island, had a collection of 40 cars stored in a climate-controlled facility. In 1966, he purchased this car and performed annual maintenance on it. In 1993, he upgraded the paint, upholstery, and top to factory specifications. He cherished the car for 53 years.
Despite its age, there are no signs of rust anywhere on the car, including the original floorpans. The engine runs smoothly, and the car drives wonderfully. In 2019, the engine received a tune-up and a new brake master cylinder. The interior is immaculate, and although the current owner hasn’t put many miles on the car, they have thoroughly enjoyed the experience so far.
The car will soon undergo servicing and a safety check, but it is not anticipated to require much attention. It drives as beautifully as it looks, with smooth running, quiet operation, and easy steering and shifting. This car would be perfect for parades or car shows due to its rarity. It is estimated that there may be only a couple of hundred models in this original condition left in the world.
The car was initially sold in 2020 but has been repurchased recently due to the previous owner running out of storage space. The current seller is thrilled to have it back, as it has hardly accumulated any additional miles. The brakes have been thoroughly inspected and the brake lines have been replaced, ensuring their optimal performance. Black Market Speed has just serviced and safety checked this 1939 car, making it ready to hit the road.

How old are the 6.00 X 16 tires?
I don’t have a good answer for you on how old these tires are I can tell you those tires are were on it the first time I bought it and it was but 6 or 7 years ago question and maybe the gentleman I bought it from out by Martha Lake not far from us may have installed them? The tires look really good. They’re in good condition we don’t see any cracking or anything on them. JERI DRAGER.
