1932 Ford

History

Ford manufactured three car models between 1932 and 1934, including the Model B, the Model 18, and the Model 46. However, these were more than just updates to the Model A that came before them, in fact, Ford launched an entirely new vehicle in 1932: the V8. The V8 was marketed as the Model 18 in its initial year, but later became commonly known as the Ford V-8 and was associated with the new flathead V8 engine.

Additionally, 1932 also saw a change in Ford truck models, with the Model BB replacing the Model AA truck. The Model BB was available with either a 4-cylinder engine or an 8-cylinder engine.

Style

Although they were both based on the same platform, the Model B and Model 18 vehicles were available in a wide variety of body styles. Some were available only as Standards, others with Deluxe trim. There were two-door roadsters, two-door cabriolets, four-door phaetons, two-door convertible sedans, two- and four-door sedans, four-door station wagons, sport coupes, three- and five-window coupes, panel and sedan delivery vehicles, and of course, pickups.

Both the V8s and Model Bs came with black fenders, wire wheels, and included a rear- or side-mounted spare tire. There were plenty of optional features as well, including side mounts, luggage racks, clocks, mirrors (internal and external), and a few interior material options.
